Yesterday, I was able to have go out and have coffee with a girl friend for the first time since becoming a foster parent. TD babysat the kids for me (approved by my agency).
As I left, I thanked her profusely for helping watch the kids for me and offered to let her use my phone to call her family while I was out.
When I came back, imagine my shock to discover a clean home (to my standard of clean – which is high), mopped basement, 2 weeks worth of kids’ snacks individually bagged, and sippy cups lined up in the fridge for quick access when running out the door.
I can’t say I would have made the same decision to clean the house for my mom when I was fifteen. TD continues to make good choices and I can’t help but think I like it when she shows her true colors.
