The minute I saw him today, I knew he was somethin’ special. His eyes glitter with excitement and he is very talkative. He is about a year and a half younger than big boy, yet almost his exact size. He has clear blue eyes and a smile that will warm your heart.
This is the 3 year old (soon to be 4) that was placed with us yesterday!
Get this – his last foster home literally dropped him off at DHS today. He sat in an office with a staff member all day awaiting his placement with us. Of course, we didn’t know this until several hours before we were to pick him up. But, can you imagine how unwanted you would feel to be in this predicament?
Big Boy and Little Boy already call each other “buddies” (Have you ever noticed little friends need very little warming up time?) They ran in the back yard, ran in the house, ran here and ran there. They literally ran everywhere – there was no walking to be had! Big boy exclaimed, “My buddy gets to spend the night!” We tried to explain to him earlier that Little Boy is going to spend a lot of nights with us, but I don’t think Big Boy totally understands this yet. Once it clicks, I am sure he will be happy!
This is going to be a very BUSY household now. I have never had to give so many time outs! ha ha But, that is part of having 2 boys with the same energy levels in the same home. There are bound to be a lot of redirection moments!
By the way, Little Boy knows nothing about Jesus yet.
Big Boy also came to us not knowing who Jesus is. It was so neat to have both boys on my lap last night for bedtime Bible story. Big Boy exclaimed, “Miss Dana, you should read Jesus on the cross!” As I read the story, Big Boy would place his hand on Little Boy and say, “Jesus yuves me. He died on the cwoss because he loves me. He yuves you too.” Big Boy would explain why Jesus had so many wounds on his body. I was so proud of him!
We just wanted to send this little update out. We love you all and thank you so much for all the support you’ve given us on this foster parenting road!
