Dear friends, it has been too long… Too long in between blog entries and for that I apologize. It has been as though blogging time has slipped between my fingers this past week…
So, without further ado…
We ask for your prayers regarding a possible placement of a 2 year old girl and 4 year old boy in our home…
I received a call yesterday from a friend who attends church with us. She explained that she reunited with an old friend of hers the other day. This OF (Old Friend) has children in the foster care system. Apparently, DHS has experienced difficulty finding a placement that would accept both brother and sister. Therefore, the children are separated into different foster homes.
My friend from church thought of us upon hearing their predicament and called us to see if we knew of anyone that might be interested in fostering this brother and sister. I, of course, said, “ME!”
The case worker who oversees the children is on vacation and unavailable. She returns Monday.
I am sure she will return to a huge pile of paperwork on her desk.
Please pray with us friends. This is how I am praying should you wish to agree with us in prayer:
We don’t want to take a child out of a home they are excelling and fitting into. If their coming to our home would cause more confusion and harm than blessings, we want them to stay where they are. We are simply asking God that in the midst of our bold prayers, He would overlook any thing we ask that would not be in the best interest of the children. Any prayers that follow below are preceded by “YOUR will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
I am praying for the social worker overseeing the case of these children. It is my prayer that as she returns to her desk and to her work, she would be inexplicably drawn to this particular email request (that her supervisor forwarded to her from me). She might be getting things in order upon her return and might have mediocre, routine things she has to do as part of her job… But my prayer is that as she tries to get the ordinary, mundane things out of the way Monday morning, she would be drawn to this email and actually interrupt her normal processes to read it.
Part of the transferring of placement process is to have a meeting with all the people involved in the childrens’ cases. Together, as a team, they decide what is in the best interest of the child. It is my prayer that not one person would get in the way of God’s special plan for these children. I pray there would not be one person or hurdle that would interrupt the plan God has for these children – whether they should stay where they are or whether they should come live with us.
I am praying that this process goes quickly. I am praying that we hear back and are not made to wait. I pray that we would have quick answers that would bring peace to mother, DHS, and most of all, the precious children effected.
I am praying that God create a beautiful masterpiece out of this situation. Every child is so precious and deserves as much love and support as possible when they have to be away from Mom and Dad. We would love to see God unfold a beautiful, healing work in these precious children.
Each time He has brought children to our home, it has been a different scenario. He is a creative God who moves in the favor of His children (whether adults or literal children) – just because He loves us. WOW, what an awesome God we serve.
So, if you can, please consider praying with us… In doing so, you become a part of the miracle God is doing!
Thank you all so much!
We will keep you updated as we receive news.
