Big Boy Leaving Us. Wednesday, April 7, 2010

Dear Friends and Family,

We found out yesterday that Big Boy will be leaving us.

This is actually great news on his part and there is peace on every side – though we will miss him greatly.

His Dad and Girlfriend are making excellent progress and worked very hard on open issues since the last court hearing.

All of the agencies involved agree that his parents will begin gradual unsupervised visits and that Big Boy can and should live with his Dad’s Girlfriend’s Family.

The perks to this are many for Big Boy.  It truly seems to be to his benefit.  Here are a few:

1.  The family he will live with is also the foster home for his sister.  He will be reunited!  He has had sibling visits, but to LIVE with her, will be a dream come true for him.

2.  The family Big Boy will live with are licensed supervisors to visits.  That means Big Boy’s Dad and Girlfriend can come to the Big Boy’s foster home each night and participate in all of the kids’ bedtime routines…Big Boy WILL GET TO SEE HIS DAD EVERY DAY!

His Dad will only live 4 blocks from him.  This is HUGE for Big Boy!

It is amazing how the timing of God is perfect.

3 months ago, this family requested Big Boy to come, however, there were issues of instability that caused our agency (and us) to not be in agreement with moving him.  However, now that these issues seem to be solved, everyone is in agreement that this is in Big Boy’s best interest.

Furthermore, the family wishes for us to continue to be part of Big Boy’s life.  They asked where he goes to church and wondered if we might be willing to bring him to church when it fits in their schedules.  There were hugs and tears – and I couldn’t help but think of the beauty God has made of Big Boy’s painful situation.  There are multiple inroads to the family in regards to things of God and a little five year old boy who has given his heart to Christ and prays regularly on his own volition.  Yes, it seems God is wrapping up a present for this family to open.  Prayerfully, they will taste and see that Lord is good.

Big Boy’s last day with us will be next Thursday.

I plan on bringing my camera with me this Sunday to church.  If you want for him to have a picture taken with you to take with him in his Goodbye Album we are making, please let me know.  I will snap your picture and make sure it is included!

In closing, I will say that Big Boy often prayed to God asking to please let him go home.  His heart has and always will long for his Daddy and home.  It was a pleasure to be able to tell him today that God answered his prayers.  God has heard him.  Though he may not live with his Daddy yet, he is going to be able to see him every day.

Thank you to all who have poured your love on our precious little foster boy!

Love,

Jeff and Dana

I must say that this blog has brought me to tears especially the part where his dad said he could attend church. What a great testimony. You have not only touched the life of this presicous little one but it has extended to his family also!
I am braying that all involved (meaning his birth family) will also one day enter the Kingdom of God and perhapse even become a vital part of RT. God is so good!!!

Yes, it brought me to tears too. How wonderful to see God’s hand in all of this. We know the Father’s heart is that none should perish……and, though it is so difficult, we surrender to whatever plan God has to make this happen. I am praying peace over you and Jeff and true comfort as I’m sure the empty spot left my Big Boy will leave you in tears.
May Big Boy and his whole family know Christ and be changed forever!!

Happy to hear about TD as well!!

Wow what a great testament to God’s power of healing, prayer and restoration. What a powerful witness you have been and will continue to be through Big Boy as he goes forward to reach his own family! Prayer changes things and God has certainly worked through you guys!

Children often have a way of influencing parents in the Spiritual realm. Your Grandma and Grandpa became Christians because a neighbor invited their children to Vacation Bible School. Now many of your Aunts and Uncles and cousins are Christians and many in the ministry.

Big Boy can be that important piece of his family as well. I believe it can happen.

WOW Dana!!! Big Boy is special to so many people. My Teen agers and Jr high kids have loved it when Big Boy comes over. Although they will miss him, they are excited to be able to spend the morning with him on his last day with you and Jeff.
He is such a polite and well mannered young man and you and Jeff have done a wonderful job with him in the short time you have had him. I know that your heart will ache for him but your heart is also filled with joy to see him restored back to his family! We will continue to pray for him and his family and do hope to see him again at RT. He will always hold a special place in our hearts as well!!
